Interview w/ Charlotte Saavedra @ Starlooks Boutique - 1 Year Birthday Celebration

Interview w/ Charlotte Saavedra at Starlooks Boutique - 1 Year Birthday CelebrationCongratulations to Starlooks Boutique {4 Kids & Babes} on their 1st birthday (March 11, 2009). In celebration I'm excited to share my interview with Charlotte Saavedra- owner of Starlooks Boutique.

Why did you decided to become a retailer in the kids apparel industry?
I have always been interested in fashion since I was a little girl. My parents never had money to buy nice clothes, and I've always wanted better for my own children. I also grew tired of seeing imported clothing and that is where my idea for a "made in the USA boutique" came into being. Hardly anyone online tells you where their products are made, and I think for the socially-conscious consumer, that is important.

Are all of your items made in the USA?
Not right now, but we are working on that. I think the only line we have that is not made in the USA is Cute as Buttons, and that is only because it is well-loved by celebrities. We also offer a line of baby shoes that are really adorable & are made in Australia - BabyPaws. And we offer "not made in China" dolls (made in Spain) from the Corolle and Berenguer brands. But we do list on each item the country of origin, so consumers will know where the item was made and where their hard-earned dollars are going.

Your store description states that you feature clothes that are popular with celebrities. Tell us more...
We have a good handful of brands that are popular with celebrities including: Baby Candy, Fortune Tee, Uncommonly Cute, Dittany Baby, Olive Kids, Itzy Ritzy, Cricket and Monkey, and of course, Cute as Buttons. Most of these labels are small, independent companies that have grown enormously because of their quality, unique design, and press they receive. We think if the celebrities love them, so will most consumers, depending on their style.

What makes your company different from other online stores?
Well, I don't think there are many like us out there - in which 99% of their selection is made in the USA. Like I said though, we'll hopefully narrow it down to 100% in the near future. I could say that we give personal attention to each and every customer, but probably a lot of other stores say and do that too.

Do you have anything else you want to share with Dashin Fashion readers?
We have exciting products that we add on a weekly basis - one example is the ItBag - a multi-purpose bag that is very stylish, yet functional. We hope to do some charity auctions in the future - just like celebs love to raise awareness and money. Also, we think buying US-made products is the way to go. We are really excited to have found a company that makes baby teethers, rubber duckies, and play dolls that are all made in the USA and we can't wait to offer them to our customers!

Thank you Charlotte for the wonderful interview. Be sure to check out Starlook Boutique's 1st Birthday Sale!
